What's the Best Cat Litter for Multiple Cats? What to Look For

For several cats, pick a firm-clumping, low-dust litter every cat will use, give them one box each plus one, and buy an amount you can store.

For two or more cats, choose a clumping litter that forms firm clumps, stays low in dust, controls odour between full changes and that every cat will use. Give them one litter box per cat plus one, in different rooms. No single litter suits every home, so start small and watch how each cat responds.

What to check

  • Odour control between full changes. Daily scooping matters as much as the litter.
  • Less tracking: put a mat at each box exit.
